Two Races. Four Organizations. One Unforgettable Festival: San Felipe SpeedFest Arrives January 14-17, 2027
NORRA, LEGACY, Desert Mayhem and RECORD bring together Baja desert racing, rally racing, Stadium Super Trucks and live music into a weekend Festival along the Sea of Cortez.
SAN FELIPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO - Two distinct race formats. Four days of activity. One coastal destination with deep roots in off-road racing. The 2027 San Felipe SpeedFest will bring NORRA, LEGACY, Desert Mayhem and RECORD together January 14-17 for a weekend Festival built around competition, community and the enduring appeal of racing in Baja.
Headlined by the inaugural NORRA LEGACY 300 rally race and 10th annual Desert Mayhem El Jefe 300 desert race, San Felipe SpeedFest will feature two days of racing, a downtown Stadium Super Truck exhibition, and Festival featuring live music and entertainment.
Saturday’s races will take competitors in opposite directions on separate courses, while a shared downtown start and finish will connect both events to the heart of San Felipe. Beyond the racecourse, the Sea of Cortez and the well known San Felipe hospitality, the San Felipe SpeedFest weekend will showcase food, festivities, a Stadium Super Trucks exhibition and live music.
Thursday, January 14: Build Confidence at Rally School
San Felipe SpeedFest opens with a Rally School led by NORRA Race Director Eliseo Garcia, giving registered competitors an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the rally format and develop their rally skills before taking the start.
Morning instruction in the Stella Del Mar meeting room will be followed by afternoon rally practice, allowing participants to put the day’s lessons into action ahead of competition.
Rally School is open exclusively to competitors registered for the event. Space is limited, and an additional fee of $500 per team applies.
Thursday afternoon offers early registration at Stella Del Mar for NORRA LEGACY 300 competitors required to qualify on Friday. Early registration times will be announced.
Friday, January 15: Qualifying Sets the Stage for a Downtown Show
Friday moves the weekend into race preparation with FanFest, contingency, registration and technical inspection in downtown San Felipe, followed by NORRA LEGACY 300 qualifying just outside San Felipe from 1 to 3 p.m. Registration and inspection times will be announced.
The Drivers’ Meeting will take place at Las Caguamas in downtown San Felipe, with the meeting time to be announced.
At 7 p.m., the focus shifts downtown for a Stadium Super Truck exhibition, bringing the action into town before Saturday’s races.
Saturday, January 16: North and South, the Racing Begins
Saturday anchors the weekend with the Desert Mayhem El Jefe 300 and NORRA LEGACY 300 running concurrently on separate courses. Both races will start and finish in downtown San Felipe near the Arch at the intersection of Mar de Cortez Sur and Chetumal, by Fat Boy’s Pizza.
To the north, NORRA racers will face three stages of approximately 65, 73 and 80 miles, totaling approximately 218 miles for the day. The multistage format will challenge teams to maintain their pace and consistency across each section while positioning themselves for Sunday’s finale.
The 6100 class will lead the field at one-minute starting intervals, followed by the remaining classes at 30-second intervals.
To the south, Desert Mayhem El Jefe 300 competitors will take on three laps of a 75-mile loop before returning to the shared downtown finish.
As the racing gives way to the evening celebration, live music is scheduled to begin around 5 p.m. Local favorite La Brisa will take the stage at 8 p.m., giving racers, crews and fans a chance to come together after a demanding day in the desert.
Sunday, January 17: One Final Stage to the Finish
The NORRA LEGACY 300 resumes at 9 a.m. Sunday, moving to the southern course used for Saturday’s Desert Mayhem El Jefe 300.
With the course dedicated exclusively to NORRA, competitors will complete one final lap of approximately 75 miles. Combined with Saturday’s three stages, the race will cover approximately 293 miles over two days.
Sunday’s final stage gives teams one more opportunity to gain ground, and one more challenge to overcome before reaching the finish. Awards are scheduled for 1 p.m., following the conclusion of racing.
A Shared Celebration of Baja Racing
San Felipe SpeedFest brings four organizations together around a shared passion for off-road competition and the community that makes it possible. By combining two distinct racing formats with education and entertainment, the weekend creates opportunities for competitors to sharpen their skills, teams to reconnect and fans to experience the energy of Baja racing.
From rally practice and the downtown Stadium Super Truck exhibition to the desert stages and evening concert, San Felipe will be at the center of the action January 14-17, 2027.
Additional event details and remaining schedule information will be announced as confirmed.
