Take the Long Way to the NORRA 500

Three days in the dirt and an inside experience at the NORRA 500 Baja Coast Challenge

The NORRA 500 Safari Expedition is Baja adventure with the rally at its core.

Over three days in the dirt, participants will cross mountain trails, pine forests, ranch country, coastal foothills and Pacific beaches. Along the way, they will join the NORRA 500 at contingency, take the green flag each morning and share the finish-line experience with racers and teams.

No racing. No stopwatch. Just a capable vehicle, a designated route and a place inside the NORRA 500.

The journey begins in Jamul, California, at a location to be announced. The group will cross into Mexico together through Tecate before the pavement gives way to the historic Compadre Trail.

The route climbs through Baja’s mountain country and pine forests before reaching Rancho La Campana near Ojos Negros, home of La Cava de Marcelo and one of northern Baja’s best-known cheesemaking traditions.

Then, Ensenada.

At contingency and technical inspection, Safari participants will enter the heart of the NORRA 500 as race vehicles, drivers and crews prepare for the challenge ahead. The first overnight stop on the itinerary is Baja Inn.

The following morning brings the green flag.

The Safari heads south along the Pacific, traveling through remote coastal terrain and onto beaches few visitors ever experience. Dirt trails, coastal cliffs and open shoreline lead toward San Quintín as the NORRA 500 unfolds around them.

The day finishes at Molino Viejo Restaurant, where Safari participants will join racers and teams for a beachfront finish-line celebration with food and refreshments. The overnight stop is Hotel Misión Santa María.

On Saturday morning, another green flag. This time, the route points north.

The Pacific remains close as the Safari travels through the coastal foothills before finishing alongside the NORRA 500 at Estero Beach Resort. The itinerary then returns to Baja Inn in Ensenada for the final overnight stay.

The NORRA 500 Safari Expedition is a noncompetitive, coordinated group expedition. Participants travel together along the designated route while maintaining safe spacing. Each participant operates and remains responsible for their own vehicle throughout the Expedition.

Three days in the dirt. Two green flags. One unforgettable way to experience the NORRA 500.
