Safari Baja Border Crossing Instructions
Safari participants will meet at Vogt Ranch in Barret Junction, California to check in and then will cross the border as a group at Tecate.

Paperwork
Please make sure you have the following documents:
- ID for U.S. citizens: a passport book or passport card are good for land crossings to Mexico. (A passport book is needed for air travel.)
- ID for non-U.S. citizens: a passport is required. Check this page to see if you need a Mexican visa.
- You will need an FFM card, which is free for any duration less than 7 days (unless you are a Mexican resident or citizen or have a Mexican Visa). Get the card validated when you cross the border at Tecate.
- Valid auto registration
Insurance
The insurance fee on your entry is minimum liability coverage only for Mexico and covers from October 6 through October 14, both off road and on the highway. Customs
It is not necessary for Safari participants to complete the customs form on their NORRA registration page. Up to 4 spare tires mounted on wheels will be allowed to cross into Mexico duty free. Major spare parts, such and engines and transmissions, will likely be charged duty.
Not Allowed Into Mexico
- Firearms, ammunition, and empty shell casings.
- Drugs that are illegal in Mexico, including marijuana, and cannabis derivitives.
- Narcotics and opiates, unless accompanied by a prescription.
- Fuel in containers. Any fuel containers must be completely empty.
