NORRA’s Baja Welcomes Ford Motor Company and Ford Performance

Ford Motor Company and Ford Performance has joined forces with NORRA for 2025. NORRA created sanctioned off-road racing in Baja back in 1967. At the time, Ford Performance had already been racing for 66 years. Ford’s legendary racing history continuously grows with brands like Bronco and Raptor having a major impact in off road racing.

The race field for NORRA’s Baja this year is filled with Ford Trucks as usual. Leading the way is the Ford Performance Bronco Raptor driven by Brad Lovell. The Ford Performance Bronco Raptor is built from a factory Bronco Raptor with added safety modifications as required by the rules for high-speed desert racing. The Bronco Raptor features the same twin-turbo 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine, advanced FOX suspension with live-valve technology, and rugged chassis that Ford’s customers can purchase. Ford Performance is celebrating 15 Years of Raptor, a brand that was born in Baja and that continues to be developed through off-road motorsport.

Brad Lovell has previously piloted the Ford Bronco DR in its competition debut to a Evolution Heavy Metal win at the 2024 NORRA 1000. With an initial run of 50 Bronco DR vehicles available in late 2022, Bronco DR pays homage to Bronco brand’s racing heritage. One of the most iconic off-road racing vehicles of all time is Parnelli Jones’ “Big Oly” race Bronco. It won the Mexican 1000 in 1969. In 2022 “Big Oly” was brought back to participate in the NORRA’s Baja Safari Expedition. That same year Ford Trucks took 11 class wins at NORRA’s Baja Mexican 1000 including the overall victory.

Other Ford Trucks entered this year are from every era of off-road racing. They range from Chris Sullivan’s 1966 Ford F100 racing in the Pioneer Trucks class, to Scott Bailey’s ID designs built Ford, and Evolution Unlimited Truck, racing for the overall win. Competitors go with Ford Performance for a simple reason; they want to win. In fact, the winningest vehicle in NORRA’s Baja is the 1968 Ford Bronco of Boyd Jaynes. In 15 NORRA’s Baja Mexican 1000 races, Jaynes has ten Pioneer 4x4 Class wins and has earned seven Pioneer Era, Steve McQueen Trophies.

NORRA’s Baja rally format provides the rush of competition but also allows participants to relax each evening in a unique location in Baja. The spectacular backdrops, challenging terrain and distinctive Baja culture provide the greatest Baja racing adventure. After experiencing NORRA’s Baja Mexican 1000 just once, you too will be hooked. Everything you need to know about the NORRA’s Baja can be found at norra.com. Don’t miss out on the fun, competition and incredible endeavors that only NORRA’s Baja can deliver.
