Moto Competitor Details For 2025 NORRA Mexican 1000

NEW COURSE, SAME PRO PURSE, DIGITAL ROADBOOKS, GREATER RANGE.

For 2025 we plan to keep the same style, difficulty and tempo of the motos course. Less beat up road and trails with a fun flow using straightforward roadbook navigation that will be doable by a good rider on any type of off-road capable motorcycle (or Three Wheeler) that meets the requirements and will pass tech inspection. Though we make the course doable by a single rider, NORRA will still allow teams in the non-pro motos classes. But be advised that the days are not constructed with this in mind and changing riders may be difficult on days. Like last year and assistance and rider changes will only be allowed in designated areas or zones on the course.

This is a race and not a tour. For safety (like last year, but more defined) we will impose strict closing times for Control Points and if riders are late they will not be allowed to continue on that day and be assessed a hefty time penalty for the course they did not complete.

The $10,000 Pro Purse is back for 2025, paid to the top three placing Pro Rally Class riders. There needs to be a minimum of 5 paid entries in the Pro Rally Class. Our top placing Solo Amateur rider will be offered a free Pro Rally class entry for 2026. We are actively seeking enhancements from sponsors to boost these prizes for 2025. Additionally we are pushing very diligently to have a dedicated MOTOS Media team for 2025 as well.

We will continue to use (if needed) longer Highway transfer sections to skip less desirable areas and concentrate on better riding. Non-Pro riders will be allowed to load and transfer in these sections if they choose. Like last year our course will be much different than the cars course and attempt to minimize bike-car course sharing.

Riders should be prepared for a true rally-style REMOTE marathon stay. If all goes to plan, the rider on the bike will stay in a remote location with only other riders, no support crew access. The organization will transfer a sleeping bag and a tent only and provide necessities at this location.

New for 2025 is the raising of the mandatory fuel range for Motos. 200 KM (120 Miles) is the range we expect your machine to have. Like last year, if fuel is not available for more than 200KM, the organization will make fuel available to riders at a set cost per gallon. When we release course mileages, we will inform you of where we will have these remote fuel locations that will not be accessible to support crews.

New for 2025 will be the adaptation of digital roadbooks. We are still working out the specifics of this but here is the rough plan. Pro class will be allowed ONLY paper or a closed digital device like ICO TOWER ONE. (At this time the Tower One is the only device we have certified for Pro Class Use. There are some others we are researching.) Amateur riders will be allowed to choose between Paper or a digital reader that will allow encrypted transfer of the roadbook PDF file. At this time we are investigating the use of the Terra Pirata application. All Riders will still have the STELLA devices for tracking, waypoint acquisition, emergency communication and scoring. No GPS files will be transferred to the digital device that is not closed and single purpose. The digital device opens the door for a lot of rider confusion if they are not very familiar with the applications and functions. It could be a way for riders to attempt to cheat and at this time they are not as proven as the traditional paper roadbook. As an organization we are aware of all of these issues and will try and be as flexible as possible through this adaptation while keeping fair play our top priority. If a rider feels that a digital device will make navigation any different they are gravely mistaken and any attempt to use a device to cheat will be rewarded with immediate disqualification at the discretion of the race director. If you have any worries, use paper.
