Be Ready To Go When You Show Up for the NORRA 500

We all know how much work is involved getting ready for a race, but please don’t neglect the requirements necessary to race. New Tech Director Bill Savage is dedicated to the rules and especially when it comes to safety. NORRA loves everything vintage, but not when it comes to your safety gear. Safety gear has an expiration date. NORRA recommends that neck restraints should be used by everyone. They are legal for 5 years from their date of inspection. Belts are 3 years from date of manufacture. No expired seat belts will be allowed. Helmets must be approved by one of the following; Snell SA2020 / SA2015 / SFI 41.1 / FIA 8860-2010 / FIA 8859-2015 (the sticker must be attached). Straps must have D-ring fasteners only. No snaps or Velcro will be permitted. The interior and exterior areas of the helmet must be free of defects (i.e., the padding must be in good condition and the exterior of the helmet must not be damaged). Helmets must be worn at all times during special stages. NORRA encourages the use of helmets during transit sections too.

Make sure you are in compliance with all rules before you get to technical inspection. You don’t want to be scrambling the day before racing starts trying to find safety gear.
