Mack Johnson: Racer. Rogue. Renegade.

The NORRA 500 is proud to announce Mack Johnson’s Classic Car Round-up at the Tech Inspection Fiesta on October 11th in Ensenada. While Mack has graced the race with his Round-up before, this very special event will be a celebration of the Baja Bug and Class 11 race cars, for one day only as Mack showcases the storied history of the Little Car That Could.

An integral part of Baja racing from the very first year, and the only model raced at the first Mexican 1000 and still widely in use today, this tough little car deserves its day in the sun. And Mack Johnson, out of prison and ready to party, is just the man to give it one—because Mack himself got his start in Baja by racing bugs in the early 1970s. He quickly became the king of the 1000 until his rough and rowdy ways caught up with him and he ended up in the Big House, at which point his protégé, the great Ramon Castro, took the throne. Ramon will be the Grand Marshal of this year’s race.

Witness this history in the flesh. Bask in the glory of the Baja Bug. Watch the race. Mack will host a special screening of The Baja Bug Movie by Michael Squier immediately after the driver’s meeting on Friday night in the Riviera Convention Center.
