NORRA 500 Class 11 Baja Battle for
King of the Beach

Part of NORRA’s celebration of the VW Beetle at the NORRA 500 October 11th through the 13th will be the new Class 11 Baja Battle for King of the Beach! NORRA has created two new classes; one for limited, Vintage class 11 bugs (U.S. rules) and a separate class for modified, Evolution class 11 bugs (Mexico rules). Both will be racing for a $4000 winner takes all cash prize in their class, but also for the King of the Beach trophy that will be awarded to the fastest overall class 11 from either Vintage or Evolution on the final stage of day two. This 51 mile stage down the beach will be epic. It includes the boulder beach and the hill climb.

NORRA Honors the Past by keeping entry fees low for the early era cars and trucks that race. This includes Pioneers; 1967 thru 1975, Legends; 1976 thru 1982, Challenger; 1983 thru 1992 and Vintage; 1993 thru 1997, and/or 20+ years old. For this new class 11 Baja Battle for King of the Beach, we will be offering a special $1967 entry fee for driver and co-driver including STELLA and SPICA fees.

The class 11 race is just part of the fun at the NORRA 500. There will be lots of VW’s at Mack Johnson´s Vintage Classic Car Round-Up at Friday tech inspection from 12pm-1pm at the Riviera Convention Center (side street, Club Rotario Ave). There you can also attend the meet and greet with our Grand Marshal Ramón Castro, known as "El Tomatón." He was the fastest class 11 driver on record. He did a solo drive from Ensenada to La Paz in 1989 at a record time of 27 hours and 46 minutes.
