ORMHOF to Award “Leyenda De La Baja” Trophy at NORRA Mexican 1000
The Off-Road Motorsports Hall Of Fame (ORMHOF) is awarding a special “Leyenda De La Baja” trophy at the 2024 NORRA Mexican 1000 off road race. NORRA’s founder Ed Pearlman created ORMHOF in 1978 to recognize and honor those who had greatly contributed to the sport of off road racing. Some of the original inductees to the Hall of Fame included Parnelli Jones, Steve McQueen, James Garner, and Don Francisco. The “Leyenda De La Baja” trophy (Legend of Baja) will be unique for ORMHOF as it will be awarded not to a driver, but to a historically significant race vehicle that finishes the epic Mexican 1000. The award will be presented to the winning vehicle’s team by ORMHOF inductees in attendance at the Mexican 1000 awards ceremony on Saturday May 4th in San José del Cabo.
NORRA entries are classified by the era of racing they competed in and span the entire history of offroad racing. Those eras include: Pioneers; 1967 thru 1975. Legends; 1976 thru 1982. Challenger; 1983 thru 1992. Vintage; 193 thru 20+ years old. Historic; 20+ years old tube frame trucks and truggys (trophy trucks) and finally the Evolution Era for modern race vehicles. The Leyenda De La Baja trophy is open to all NORRA eras except the modern vehicles in the Evolution category.
ORMHOF’s mission is to educate and inspire present and future generations of the off-road community by celebrating the achievements of those who came before. The Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame Class of 2024 will be announced this summer, and off-road’s biggest night of the year, the ORMHOF Induction & Awards Gala is Sunday, November 3 at the South Point in Las Vegas. We invite you to help fulfill the mission of the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame. Join, partner, or donate today. www.ormhof.org
