NORRA Gives You More in 24 at the Mexican 1000!
NORRA gives you more in 2024; more days, more miles of racing, more celebrations, more prizes and more destinations at the Mexican 1000. The Mexican 1000 travels the length of the Baja Peninsula hitting a different destination every night to give you the most incredible Baja racing experience. New for 2024 will be an additional day of racing and a stop in San Ignacio. NORRA has added an additional day of racing in order for teams to experience San Ignacio’s charm and historic character. Four wheeled vehicles, bikes and the safari expedition will all enjoy unique trails, but everyone will converge in San Ignacio for an incredible celebration. The new course configuration and additional day of racing means new trails, new challenges and new scenery will be experienced by all.
The Mexican 1000 dates will be April 26th through May 4th 2024. Friday the 26th will begin tech inspection and registration in Ensenada. There will be food, music and lots of fun. PRO TURBO UTV and PRO 2000 classes will be the first to go through tech because they will be qualifying on Friday. Saturday the 27th will be day two of tech with the vintage vehicle round-up, welcome fiesta, driver’s meetings for all participants and much more.
On Sunday April 28th, everyone heads from Ensenada to fishing village of San Felipe. Racing classes will have several timed special stages on the way. Monday the 29th, four wheeled vehicles race to Bay of Los Angeles while the bikes head to Guerrero Negro. On day three of competition, Tuesday the 30th, everyone meets up again in San Ignacio. San Ignacio will be an all-new experience for NORRA. The town is an oasis in an otherwise foreboding desert filled with cactus and volcanic rock. The date palms and citrus orchards around town were planted by the Jesuits who also built the beautiful mission back in 1728.
From San Ignacio competitors travel to Loreto on Wednesday the 1st of May. Thursday the 2nd the course heads south from Loreto to La Paz. On Friday the 3rd of May we complete the final day of competition from La Paz to San Jose Del Cabo. After 6 days of racing, NORRA will hold the awards ceremony on the beach on the 4th of May. You can celebrate Cinco de Mayo anyway you like on the trip home.
Save those important dates and make plans today to join us on an epic Mexican 1000 in 2024. Online registration begins at 12:00 noon Pacific Time on December 1st. This event will be packed with special events, awards, challenges, prizes and more; you don’t want to miss it! NORRA’s rally format provides the rush of competition, but also allows participants to relax each evening in a unique location in Baja. You can enjoy the food, drink, and nightlife of Baja while racing the entire length of the Baja Peninsula. The Safari Expedition is for street legal vehicles and travels at non-racing speeds to enjoy even more of the spectacular beauty and distinctive Baja culture along the way.
