AGUA DULCE, CALIF. - NORRA’s newest sponsor, Hellwig Suspension Products, is here to support racers on several levels. First is their sponsorship support for NORRA. Second is the additional support given to NORRA competitor’s trucks in the form of their excellent suspension products. Thirdly, they have a special rebate available on their helper springs and sway bars. Hellwig is here to support the support vehicles of NORRA.

Chase crews are a big part of off road racing success. They spend long hours on sometimes primitive roads carrying heavy loads and towing trailers. “Hellwig products are designed to increase stability, provide control, comfort, and instill driver confidence,” says Mike Hallmark from Hellwig. “Crew members need to perform in tough conditions. They have to overcome many mental and physical challenges. They can’t afford to show up for work already exhausted by a white knuckle drive. With Hellwig Suspension Products installed, they can relax and enjoy the driving experience while navigating the Baja Peninsula.”

Hellwig delivers the same confidence whatever your endeavors may be. Many competitors and race fans alike haul truck campers, off road toys in their beds, or trailer boats on their days off. Having a suspension that rides smooth on or off the road whether loaded or empty is critical to enjoying your pursuits. Hellwig has spent countless hours designing and testing products that are sure to make your off road vehicle perform better on the trail and easier to live with when you’re on the highway. Hellwig has created several products aimed specifically at towing and hauling off road vehicles including sway bars, steel helper springs, upgraded end links and more. With Hellwig suspension products you’ll eliminate white knuckles and get more smiles per mile.

NORRA “Honors the Past, While Forging the Future” as does Hellwig. They have applications that start with the current model cars and trucks, and go all the way back to vehicles built in 1955; manufacturing all of its steel products in California’s Central Valley. The company was founded in 1946 by Rudy Hellwig who noticed a need for Helper Springs after seeing cars and trucks with heavy loads sagging under the extra weight. This led to unsafe changes in the handling and likely caused a lot of accidents. Rudy manufactured his Helper Springs at night in his shop and would sell and install them in a customer’s driveway with the help of his son Don. Don’s son Mark joined the company in the 1960s and currently serves as CEO. Melanie Hellwig White came to the business after gaining experience in other industries and now holds the title of president. Melanie is proud to be the fourth generation Hellwig working in the family business. Hellwig is a great American success story.

###   Good Vibes. Good Times!   ###

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Meyers Manx, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Rugged Radios, STEEL-IT, Raceline Wheels / Nomad Wheels / Mobelwagen Wheels, Adler Motorsports, McMillin Racing, Maxima Racing Oils, Multitool USA, Biltwell, Cervecería Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
