AGUA DULCE, CALIF. - Dakar podium finisher, Baja 1000 overall winner, 4x International Six Day Enduro gold medalist, and overall winner of the Dubai Rally are just a portion of the incredible accomplishments attained by professional factory rider Jimmy Lewis. His depth of riding knowledge is why some of the most talented riders in the world, like Ricky Brabec for instance, look to him for coaching and training. In 2023 Jimmy will be back again with NORRA at the Mexican 1000 to provide road book navigation training for all motorcycle and ATV entrants. Instead of just listening to a computer telling you where to go, you will learn how to navigate using compass headings, natural features, and landmarks that correspond to the road book. You will master reading the terrain and develop a sense of direction that will improve your everyday riding. Navigating by road book forces you to look around, take in your surroundings and engage your brain. It is both challenging and rewarding and when you compete in the NORRA Mexican 1000 you will learn from the best. The training will expand each rider’s abilities to match those who compete on a global level.
Jimmy’s online training course will have videos, and tasks that you will accomplish on and off your bike. After completing the instruction, every rider will be tested on their road book navigation skills. Those who have experience with road book navigation can go right to the test if they wish, but the training videos contain a wealth of information that is valuable to riders of all skill levels and experience so you’ll want to take advantage of Jimmy’s program. Those who take the online course will receive the training at no charge until the deadline which will be announced later. The first step is to get registered for the event at www.norra.com Registration opens at 12:00pm Pacific Daylight Time today, Saturday, November 5th. NORRA has a first in, first out starting system on day one of the rally. Those who get registered for the event early get to start up front in their class on day one.
If your motorcycle is not already outfitted for rally racing, NORRA has you covered there too. Special pricing is available from Rally Moto Shop to get your bike outfitted with all the best rally tested components that you will need. You will have the best gear, best training, and best adventure ever at the NORRA Mexican 1000. The very first bike competitors to challenge Baja were rugged individuals who had very little more than guts, and a sense of adventure. NORRA pays homage to that concept and adds fun to the challenge. The Mexican 1000 is a multi-day stage race that travels the length of the Baja Peninsula. Each night you will have time to prepare your bike for the next day’s stage as well as take in the hospitality of the local town at a NORRA celebration. Each location is unique in its character and surroundings. The goal is always to get everyone to the final finish line in San Jose Del Cabo for the epic awards celebration on the beach the following day. There are so many things to experience you will want to come back again and again. Remember, all the information you need to join us in Baja can be found at www.norra.com. Go there, check it out, and start making plans today!

ABOUT NORRA
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.
Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.
NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Rugged Radios, Adler Motorsports, McMillin Racing, Maxima Racing Oils, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, K&N, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
