The Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 Presented by Method Race Wheels is “The Happiest Race On Earth!”. The field is filled with historic and restored vehicles, as well as Motorcycles, ATV’s, and modern race cars, and trucks. If you own a UTV, prerunner, or 4x4 truck, NORRA welcomes you to compete too. If you have a street legal vehicle, you can enter the safari class that is a guided tour of Baja that follows the race. Safari participants visit points of interest along the way, spectate the race, and join the fun at each night’s party with the competitors, icons of offroad racing and current professionals who all take part in the Mexican 1000.

Everyone at the Mexican 1000 takes part in an incredible competitive event, and becomes a seasoned Baja traveler along the way. The rally begins in Ensenada, and winds back and forth between the Pacific Ocean, and the Sea of Cortez on the way down to the finish in San Jose Del Cabo. Run in a rally stage format over multiple days, competitors experience several towns along the way during overnight stops. Each town has its own unique feel, and allows teams a chance to slow down, celebrate the day at a party or special event, and recharge for the next day’s stage. Remember, the goal is to have fun. Many people discover unique spots on the trip down, and then spend more time at their favorite destinations on the drive home. The Mexican 1000 is for everyone who loves the spectacular scenery, food, and rich culture of Baja.

The Yokohama NORRA 500 presented by Method Race wheels is a two-day loop race that starts and ends in Ensenada each night. The competition is fierce, but the fun is even greater. Competitors run a completely different course each day. This race is perfect for first timers, those with a limited crew, or to bring down the family for maximum enjoyment. The loop race format makes logistics easy. It is open to 4 wheeled competitors and the Safari classes. The Cartera Grande is a “Giant Purse” of prizes provided by sponsors just for the UTV’s. All entrants will experience the most scenic and challenging terrain in Northern Baja Mexico while enjoying all the finest amenities in and around Ensenada. The second largest city in Baja, Ensenada has beautiful resorts, large beaches, surf spots, great diving, fishing, nightlife and shops full of artisan crafts. Located just south of the city, “Valle de Guadalupe” is Mexico’s equivalent to Napa Valley. There’s something for the entire family to enjoy. Each evening the NORRA team will offer locally inspired hospitality starting with happy hour events, and concluding with dinner. If you have always wanted to bring your family, and friends to see what NORRA is all about, or want to get your feet wet racing in Baja, this is the event for you! You can sign up today and join in on all the fun and adventure.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, McMillin Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
