Rugged Radios Outfits NORRA Crew At The NORRA 500
The 2022 Vintage Classic Car Round-Up!

AGUA DULCE, CALIF. - As teams descend on the Yokohama NORRA 500 Presented by Method Race Wheels, there is a particular breed of racers who honor the past. They are the competitors who race their vintage and classic vehicles. The Vintage Classic Car Round-up will showcase these vehicles on contingency row; Thursday from 10am to 1pm. NORRA has classes for all types of trucks and buggies so these competitors are varied. Vintage and classic vehicles competing in the race will be there representing famous car builders as well as talented garage fabricators. Whether it’s Bruce Galien’s 1975 Funco Bandito, Trevor Glidden’s 1988 Chevy truck formerly raced by Dave Westhem, or Jeff Gamroth’s 89 Porsche 911, they all are paying homage to the history of off road racing while competing in the rally. The fact that many of these vehicles survive to this day are a testament to the knowledge and skills shown by their builders. It also demonstrates the love and appreciation for the legacy of Off Road racing their owners possess; which is shared equally by the fans.

Every single one of them has a story. Many are treasures that took a lot of work to discover, restore, and return to the dirt. Others were just dusted off, and pressed back into service. It’s amazing how many people remember a certain car or truck from when they were young. Sometimes it’s not the car at all; it’s the driver who made history behind their steering wheels. Whether your entry into the race is a piece of history, or maybe the result of father and son time, NORRA celebrates your efforts.

The best thing about NORRA events is the shared experiences, and friendships made along the way. The second best thing is all the cool vehicles that participate. Everything you need to know about NORRA events can be found at www.norra.com. Go to the site and find out for yourself why NORRA has exploded in popularity. You can experience the same wonder and sense of achievement those early thrill seekers sought in the 1960’s when you join NORRA in Baja. Don’t miss out on the fun.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Rugged Radios, Adler Motorsports, McMillin Racing, Maxima Racing Oils, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
