Yokohama Tire Is Back In Baja At The 2022 Yokohama NORRA 500 Presented By Method Race Wheels!
Title Sponsor For The Sixth Consecutive Year!
AGUA DULCE, CALIF. - Yokohama Tire is back in Baja. Returning as the title sponsor of both the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 and NORRA 500 for the sixth consecutive year.
Yokohama Tire will be back in Baja at the 2022 Yokohama NORRA 500 race as Title sponsor of the event. The rally takes place from September 29th through October 2nd in Ensenada, Baja California Mexico. The Yokohama NORRA 500 varies from the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 because it’s a loop race that starts and finishes both days in Ensenada. The racing takes place on entirely different courses each day. Since all festivities are centrally located in Ensenada, it’s the perfect opportunity to bring your friends and family down to experience NORRA racing.
“We’ve really enjoyed partnering with the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) on both the Mexican 1000 and NORRA 500, a truly unique, classic Baja off-road rally where acquaintances and friends have become like family” said Fardad Niknam, Yokohama Tire’s senior director of product planning and product marketing. “It’s a fun event for the competitors and has been an excellent venue to highlight our rugged GEOLANDAR tire line.”
Yokohama was founded way back in 1917, and came to America in 1969. From the very beginning, Yokohama was dedicated to quality, and performance; the very attributes needed to survive in brutal Baja terrain. Many of the most prolific front-runners in the NORRA racing series are on Yokohama tires. You will find Yokohama Geolandar tires on the winningest team of the last 10 years at the Mexican 1000; the 1968 Ford Bronco named Caballo Del Diablo driven by owner Boyd Jaynes and Brian Godfrey. Caballo Del Diablo regularly finishes the Mexican 1000 on the same set of Yokohama tires they started on; a huge accomplishment considering the harsh conditions encountered throughout the Baja Peninsula.
Yokohama’s Super Digger design has stood the test of time since the 1980’s, as it is still manufactured today along with the entire line of Geolandar tires for everything from UTV’s to Trophy Trucks, and Ultra4 rock racers. The Yokohama NORRA 500 has challenging conditions for the racers, but there are plenty of amenities in and around Ensenada so nobody has to rough it. This also goes for the crew. There will be plenty of opportunities to spend time at the beach, in the pool, and at the NORRA parties every night. Join us for all the Good Vibes, and Good Times.
The fun, the challenge, the camaraderie, the food and drink, and the culture in Baja make NORRA unlike any other event, and Yokohama is a big part of that. The Yokohama NORRA 500 is the perfect chance to get that first Baja race under your belt. If you don’t have a race vehicle, enter the safari class for street legal vehicles. You will be on a guided tour that takes in key points of interest, and gives you the opportunity to socialize with Baja legends, and adventurers like yourself who are living out their dreams. It’s so easy to join NORRA in the fun, just go to www.norra.com where you will find all the information you need. Don’t delay, make plans to come down and enjoy the Good Vibes, and Good Times at the Yokohama NORRA 500. Online registration closes September 23rd at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. Onsite registration will be available on September 29 until 5:00 p.m.

ABOUT NORRA
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.
Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.
NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Rugged Radios, Adler Motorsports, McMillin Racing, Maxima Racing Oils, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
