Moto Racers Will Have Road Book Navigation Training by Jimmy Lewis
for the 2022 Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 Presented by Method Race Wheels!

AGUA DULCE, CALIF. For 2022 NORRA has gone to road book navigation only for motorcycles, but do not fear. NORRA has enlisted the help of world renowned motorcycle racer and riding instructor Jimmy Lewis to help everyone get up to speed on navigation. He has both online instruction, and in-person training courses that will give you all the skills you need to feel comfortable with the road book system. Of course the bikes will still have a Stella unit onboard for rider safety. The Stella unit can guide you back towards the course if you get lost, but with Jimmy’s training you’ll be navigating like the most successful riders in the world that he has trained.

Online instruction will be available on February 1st. You must be entered in the race. The online course will have videos, and tasks that you will accomplish on and off your bike. After completing the instruction, every rider will be tested. Those who have experience with road book navigation can go right to the test if they wish, but the training videos contain a wealth of information that is valuable to riders of all skill levels, and experience. Those who take the online course will receive the training at no charge until February 28th. After that date, NORRA will pay half; a $150 dollar charge will be added to your entry fee. Teams with multiple riders will all get training for the same prices.

If you want to take advantage of Jimmy’s personal instruction, you can attend his class in Pahrump, Nevada. NORRA will pay $300 dollars of his normal $900 dollar cost; again only until February 28th. After that date, NORRA will still pay $150 towards your in-person training. NORRA has also entered into an agreement with the Rally Moto Shop to offer discounts on the equipment you will need. We will release that information tomorrow so look for it.

This training is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You will be trained by the best, and at no charge to you if you act fast. Don’t wait until the last minute. You want to be completely familiar with road book navigation, and the operation of the equipment before you show up to the Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 presented by Method Race Wheels. Make sure you are entered at www.norra.com, and then send an email to jimmy@jimmylewisoffroad.com Jimmy will reply with instructions on how to proceed with the training you desire.

Founded in 1999, Jimmy Lewis Off-Road was spearheaded when a group of Bay Area riders, early in the adventure riding movement, contacted Jimmy to see if he could teach them the skills to ride the big bikes in the dirt. It was a huge success, and the classes caught on quickly. Since then, we have been teaching all levels of riders on all types of motorcycles. Our drills are fun, easy to understand, instructional, and above all, increase rider safety.

We are based out of our facility in Pahrump, Nevada, and do classes there during the cooler months of the year. Our area contains some of the best desert and mountain riding and offers training experiences galore. We travel and do specialized events all over the country, ranging from ride-in events to classes for clubs or groups. Feel free to contact us if you have something in mind.

Our standard class is focused on the riding skills you need, no matter the type of bike or the current ability level of the rider. Whether adventure touring, dual-purpose, trail, or competition riding, our Series One class will be right for you, and you will learn a lot. We also offer a few specialized clinics and curriculum for government and law enforcement motorcycle and off-road vehicle training. ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.

Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, RIGID, STEEL-IT, Slime, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cervecería Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Jimmy Lewis, RMS, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
