Safari Border Crossing
Optional group crossing: Safari participants can meet at San Ysidro Village (the Ross/Mervyns shopping center) and cross as a group. They will leave at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30 and then cross the border. They will get their FMM cards at the border. The group will stop for lunch on the way down.

Paperwork
Please make sure you have the following documents:
- ID for U.S. citizens: a passport book or passport card are good for land crossings to Mexico. (A passport book is needed for air travel.)
- ID for non-U.S. citizens: a passport is required. Check this page to see if you need a Mexican visa.
- Valid auto registration
- NORRA sticker or dashboard sign
Insurance
The insurance fee on your entry is minimum liability coverage only for Mexico and covers from April 29 through May 10, both off road and on the highway. It is provided by Instant Mexico Insurance. Customs
New! Safari participants need to complete the customs form on their NORRA registration page. Up to 4 spare tires mounted on wheels will be allowed to cross into Mexico duty free. Major spare parts, such and engines and transmissions, will likely be charged duty.

- Firearms, ammunition, and empty shell casings.
- Drugs that are illegal in Mexico, including marijuana, and cannabis derivitives.
- Narcotics and opiates, unless accompanied by a prescription.
- Fuel in containers. Any fuel containers must be completely empty.
If you are crossing on your own
- Don’t forget to get your FMM card at the Aduanas building at the border, on the right, just after the inspection area. If you got it online, it must be validated there.
