Let’s Bring Bikes Back to the NORRA 500

NORRA Listens to our competitors and many of you have wanted to race bikes again at the NORRA 500. NORRA’s Baja Mexican 1000 is an incredible challenge that riders love, but some just want a little less. The NORRA 500 has much of the same Baja racing experience as the Mexican 1000, except it’s a two-day 500 mile loop race that starts and finishes in Ensenada each day. It’s easy to race and easy to chase. You can take advantage of all the amenities found in Ensenada while still racing on challenging Baja terrain; crews love it!

If you want to race the 500, register your team. You will be charged a $200 deposit to show your intent. If NORRA gets enough entries for the 500 by September 1st, we will bring bikes back. Your $200 deposit will be put towards the entry fee if the race goes forward. If the interest is not there, it’s fully refunded. Also, NORRA has a special program for the 500. All completed entries done online while registration is open get a $200 discount on their entry fees. Registration opens online on July 1st at 12:00 pm Pacific time. If the minimum entry number is achieved, NORRA will have Pro and Amateur bike classes (all road book navigation), plus a new taste of Baja GPS guided class available.

The NORRA 500 is a fast, competitive event for serious riders, but it’s also a great opportunity for teams who are new to NORRA to get their feet wet racing in Baja. It’s much easier logistically than a full peninsula run. Bikes will race on motorcycle specific courses all to themselves. They will do separate loops from the 4 wheeled vehicles on both days. NORRA will also have prize money available for Pro riders. If the minimum of 5 riders are signed up for the Pro Rally class, there will be a 5K prize.

Both days of rally format racing will take place on unique courses that start and finish in iconic locations offering exciting spectator opportunities. On Friday, riders will take the green flag at Estero Beach. Bikes and 4 wheeled competitors will be on separate courses, but everyone will finish at the iconic Horsepower Ranch for a celebration. Saturday will have the same format of separate loops, but the starting line will be at Rancho Neilson. Everyone will finish back at Estero Beach for the finish line celebration.

If you’ve raced the NORRA 500 with us before, you know how fun and competitive it is. If you are new to racing in Baja, the 500 is the perfect event to get your first taste of NORRA. The logistics are very simple. Ensenada has many hotel choices available so your team can stay in the same place for the entire event.

If you have always wanted to bring your family and friends to see what NORRA is all about, or want to get your feet wet racing in Baja, this is the event for you! After experiencing the NORRA 500 just once, you too will be hooked. Everything you need to know about the NORRA 500 and NORRA’s Baja Mexican 1000 can be found at the NORRA website. Go to the site and find out for yourself why NORRA has exploded in popularity. Remember, online registration opens July 1st at 12:00 pm Pacific time at www.norra.com.
