The Latest From NORRA
For The 2022 Yokohama NORRA 500 Presented By Method Race Wheels
AGUA DULCE, CALIF. Since 1967, NORRA has always listened to our racers. We are unique in that we put as much emphasis on having a good time, as we do having competitive events. We decided to go to road book navigation for motorcycle classes in order to create the type of challenging conditions that bike racers were looking for. The 2022 Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000, presented by Method Race Wheels was an epic event that attracted world class athletes as well as those who wanted the ultimate Baja adventure.
Now that the 500 has come around, those same competitors are not seeing the type of challenge they expect competing in a 2 day, loop race. Enthusiasm is strong with the 4 wheeled competitors, but the Motorcycle racers aren’t as motivated, and NORRA is listening. NORRA does not like to do things halfway, and the logistics involved in putting on an entirely separate course, with full support, does not make sense for only a handful of riders. NORRA has always run bikes at the 500 going back to the very beginning, but if riders want more, we will honor their wishes. It feels very strange to us, but we will be running just the 4 wheeled classes and Safari at the NORRA 500, and put all our efforts into providing a world class motorcycle experience at the Mexican 1000 in 2023. Our goal remains the same as always; to create the best Baja adventure possible, and to Honor the Past while Forging the Future. At NORRA we give competitors what they want.
MOTOS- We will see you at the Mexican 1000 in 2023!
"The Happiest Race On Earth!"
### Good Vibes. Good Times! ###
Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, five-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern pre-runners, trucks, buggies, UTVs, bikes and desert Rally Raid cars.
Pearlman’s late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970’s.
NORRA enjoys corporate partnerships with Yokohama Tire, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel & Casino, McMillin Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, STEEL-IT, Multitool USA, Satélite del Norte, Biltwell, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, PCI Race Radios, Schampa, Optima Batteries, K&N, Horsepower Ranch, Baja Bush Pilots, The Fab School, Mag7 Pits, the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF), B3KREATIV, and many more.
